Starting in October 2012, the Jerusalem Quartet will perform several complete cycles of Shostakovich's string quartets. 15 in total, they span the composer's life and encompass his compositional ad philosophical ideas. The cycles will take place in several US cities including New York (Alice Tully Hall), Portland Oregon and Houston; as well as in Key European cities such as London, Madrid, Bilbao and Brussels.

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, which will host the New York cycle, has produced a short video introducing the cycle:

From the CMSLC's website:

Composers have often turned to the string quartet as the vehicle for their most intimate utterances. Other than Beethoven, no composer has put so much of himself into his quartets as Dmitri Shostakovich. Written over the course of his career, Shostakovich’s 15 string quartets serve as both biography and reflections on life behind the iron curtain. Bringing a unique perspective and searing intensity, the fiery Jerusalem Quartet performs the complete cycle in four concerts.
